Sleep Splint

Sleep apnea is described as a periodic shrinkage of the pharyngeal airway during sleep, and thus a complete interruption or reduction of lung airflow despite the air pressure in the lung falling when breathing is exhaled.

Upper respiratory muscles lose tonus, negative air pressure can not advance the base of the tongue through the pharyngeal wall away from the pharyngeal wall.

Sleep Apnea is classified as low, moderate and severe. Splints applied in dentistry are used in low and medium severity cases and severe cases after surgery. Splints are devices that allow the farengs to expand the volume by taking the bottom edge forward. It is prepared after the measurements and jaw positioning analyzes to be taken from the patient and delivered to the patient so that the patient can comfortably breathe during sleep.
